Fiskars Easter Sessions returns in 2026, bringing talented string players to our beloved Fiskars, in a collaboration project with LEAD! Foundation and the Finnish String Academy.

The festival consists of six concerts, four of which take place in Fiskars Village and two in Porvoo. We are happy to announce two free chamber music concerts, which will be held on 7 April at Fiskars Lukaali and on 12 April at Porvoo Valtiopäiväsali. Tickets for the whole festival are now on sale.

Combining chamber music and orchestral concerts, the festival programme is centered around the warm and expressive timbres of the string instruments. In the chamber music concerts, audiences will hear familiar Romantic masterpieces by Dvořák, Brahms and Sibelius, as well as new sound worlds by Sallinen, Montgomery and Golijov. The orchestral concert on 11 April includes Tchaikovsky’s well-known Serenade for Strings (1880), bringing the concert to a joyous close.

The orchestral concerts are conducted by the internationally acclaimed conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste. The chamber music period is led by the principal teachers of the Cello Academy: Tuomas Lehto, Principal Cello of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Tuomas Ylinen, Principal Cello of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, together with visiting teachers, violinist Jan Söderblom and violist Alexander Gordon.

The soloists of the period are young musicians of the String Academy: 15-year-old violinist Lilja Haatainen, recently signed as an artist by the international top agency Harrison Parrott, Saima Malmivaara, cellist and winner of the 2024 Porvoo Cello Competition, and violist Martta Kunnola, prizewinner at the international Hindemith Viola Competition.
